More About Abby Petersen
Clinical Interests:
I have a law degree and my primary clinical interests are working with clients who are involved in the criminal justice system, deviant or violent behaviors, conduct disorders, and sexual disorders. In addition to this, I also love working with obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), couples, and almost everything in between.
Clinical Approach:
I take a humanist approach that is focused on the client and what the client wants to achieve. No one else can pick our goals for us. We are all the experts of our own experiences. I primarily draw from dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy and am always learning more theoretical approaches. I also know that what makes therapy most effective is the relationship between therapist and client, so I love blending humor, support, and partnership with everyone who comes into my office.
Plus, I’m an anti-diet, HAES-informed clinician. I’m sex positive and kink-allied, too!
Hobbies:
I like Dr. Pepper, reading horror books, playing The Sims, and hanging out with my cats. I’m also committed to staying at all the haunted hotels I can.
