More About Abigail Peterson

Clinical Interests:

As a therapist, my clinical interests are deeply rooted in understanding and supporting individuals across various stages of life. With a focus on teens, and young adults, I am committed to providing a safe space for exploration and growth during these formative years. Additionally, I specialize in addressing women’s issues with empathy and empowerment, recognizing the unique challenges they may face. My interest extends to navigating chronic health conditions, offering holistic approaches to managing both physical and emotional well-being. Furthermore, I am dedicated to assisting individuals in processing trauma and overcoming its lasting effects, guiding them towards healing and resilience. Whether it’s navigating stage of life transitions or coping with life’s complexities, I am here to offer compassionate support every step of the way.

Clinical Approach:

In my clinical approach, I integrate evidence-based modalities such as CBT and ACT to empower clients in challenging negative thoughts and aligning actions with their values. Grounded in Person-Centered Therapy principles, I create a nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered. For children, I utilize Play Therapy to facilitate expression and coping skills development, while incorporating art techniques to enhance communication and insight. My goal is to support clients in navigating challenges and fostering meaningful change in their lives.

Hobbies:

Outside of work, I keep things active and diverse with hobbies that balance both adventure and relaxation. Whether I’m paddleboarding on the water, rock climbing for a thrill, or enjoying a game of pickleball with friends, I’m all about staying active. I also appreciate the simple pleasure of long walks by the lake, finding peace in nature’s beauty. When I’m winding down, I dive into art projects or get lost in a good book. Plus, I’m a big fan of board games like Catan and enjoy a round of cribbage with my spouse—it’s a great way for us to unwind and connect. And, of course, there’s nothing like quality time with my loyal sidekick, Jack Dog, my trusty canine companion.
