More About Alison Suominen
Clinical Interests:
I find it an honor and a privilege to enter into the lives of individuals and families as their personal stories of strength and perseverance unfold, while together sharing obstacles and successes. I treasure meaningful moments, seeing hope in the eyes of a client and a recognition of their own significance. My clinical interests include working with adolescents, adults, couples and families struggling with a broad spectrum of mental health concerns such as: complex trauma, effects of abuse, spiritual issues, shame, identity, self-compassion, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and relationship issues.
Clinical Approach:
To create an atmosphere of growth and healing, I focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship through a context of emotional and physical safety. I explore ways to aid the client in establishing both internal and external safety within one’s relationship with self, spirituality, and others. As an experienced mental health clinician practicing for 15+ years, I utilize a variety of unique approaches to find just the right pathway to bring inner healing and emotional health. I utilize a strength-based, client centered approach to therapy in which I incorporate internal family systems, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.
Hobbies:
I have been married for 26 years and have 3 daughters. I enjoy time with family and friends. I love adventure and have a passion for the outdoors. I like to kayak, hike and camp in the warmer months and snowshoe and ski in the winter.
