More About Amanda McGuire

Clinical Interests:

I have worked with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. I have a passion for working with adults and teens struggling with eating disorders, individuals navigating new life transitions, their own core beliefs, and the full variety of life’s emotions. I view my role as a counselor as someone to join you on your journey in holistic wellness. I have experience in a wide range of concerns including eating disorders, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, work issues and relationship concerns.

Clinical Approach:

I work from a cognitive behavior therapy model while integrating other therapies such as Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy all from a trauma informed lense to be as versatile as the clients I meet. I am here to walk with someone in their journey of recognizing patterns in their lives and changing those patterns. People change through recognizing their thoughts, behaviors and how the two are connected. As well as what they can do to alter negative patterns they have fallen into regarding their thoughts and behaviors. As someone’s therapist I want to collaborate with them on their treatment goals and to help them achieve their aspirations. I bring a nonjudgmental positive energy to our sessions. This assists in the most important aspect of our time together which is the therapeutic relationship between a client and counselor.

Hobbies:

Some of the ways I spend my free time are spending time with my family, walking my dog, reading mystery novels, and playing board games and video games.
