More About Andrea Fjeldberg
Clinical Interests:
I welcome individuals 18+ and particularly enjoy supporting those navigating the unique life transitions that accompany ages 18-25. I have an interest in working with LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. As a member of the queer community, I know how hard it can be to find providers who are educated and affirming. I recognize how much work it takes to educate others about the different parts of your identity.
My experience has allowed me to support individuals with varying backgrounds. This includes different races, religious beliefs, education levels, those with a history of incarceration, documented and undocumented immigrants. I have given support to people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance misuse, interpersonal relationship needs, hallucinations, delusions and intrusive thoughts. Some of the diagnoses include Bipolar, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other concerns.
Clinical Approach:
I have over 7 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults as a mental health practitioner, peer support specialist, and case manager. I believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is one of the most important parts of the healing process. My strength is in providing a warm and supportive space. In my therapeutic relationships I have been humbled to be described by those I have supported in the past as: genuine, non-judgmental, honest, trustworthy, and funny. These are characteristics I hope to continue to bring to all future sessions. I utilize a multi-disciplinary approach to therapy that is nonjudgmental, person-centered, introspective, trauma-informed, and social and racial justice oriented. I strongly believe that finding self-worth is a key piece in building yourself and a life you can enjoy. To reach that point, I will support you in navigating the struggles which hold you back. As a white therapist I recognize my privilege and biases within this world. I will support all individuals based on their own cultural identities and will continue to engage in lifelong multicultural curiosity, awareness, and education.
Hobbies:
When I am not working, you can find me hanging out with my dog Maya Ford. Completing cross-stitch projects. Swimming with my nieces and nephews. Dreaming of future tattoos. And forever slowly spelling my last name for people.
