More About Andrew Held
Clinical Interests:
I have worked with students of all ages and am very passionate about students at the middle/high school level. I have worked with students on a wide variety of concerns that can occur in everyday life. Some of the diagnoses that I have worked with are: major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I work with all demographics (i.e. age, race, gender, religion) but have a great interest in working with individuals with depression as well as those who struggle with anxiety.
Clinical Approach:
I incorporate motivational interviewing as well as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques when working with clients. I believe that the therapist and client relationship is highly important to the success of every session. I view the relationship as a partnership that can create an environment for success. I strive to meet clients where they are while still introducing skills and techniques tailored to the client’s needs. My goal is to support the client as much as possible while collaborating with them to find solutions to any concern they may bring to each session.
Hobbies:
I love spending time with others either by going to the movies or relaxing by the pool. I am an avid video game player with much of my alone free time spent playing a wide variety of games. I also enjoy making a homemade dinner and binge-watching a new TV show, always looking for new recommendations!
