More About Arundathi (Aru) Rao
Clinical Interests:
I work with children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral and emotional concerns. I have many years of experience working with youth who have symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral disorders. I am passionate about working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. I have been trained in multiple trauma-informed models of treatment that are appropriate for children and adolescents.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that clients (and their parents when working with children and adolescents) are the experts in the room and that it is important to respect that expertise. I have been trained in multiple trauma-informed models to utilize when working with children and families who have been impacted by trauma. I believe that understanding the reasons for symptoms and behaviors is the first step to managing them. I understand that every person is different so I use an eclectic approach to therapy and use trauma-informed strategies, play therapy, CBT, Adlerian, and person-centered interventions.
Hobbies:
I enjoy knitting, reading, crafting going on long walks, and spending time with family and friends
