More About August Hiivala

Clinical Interests:

I have provided counseling to clients experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic-stress, and substance use. I have worked with kids, teenagers, adults, couples, and families looking for positive changes and a sense of balance in their lives.

Clinical Approach:

We are each unique in where we have been, where we are, and ways we deal with whatever is going on. I enjoy helping clients find ways they can better manage their feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and other life-stressors to find more balance and ability to navigate their daily lives. I like using cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based approaches to find a healthy relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Hobbies:

Music, guitar, time in nature, playing video games, disc golf, reading, and learning new things.
