More About Bethany Peterson

Clinical Interests:

My first career has been in K-12 education for 17 years as a multilingual language teacher. Most of my time I have spent in bilingual education, working with students in grades 6-12. I am now transitioning into the counseling field of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am passionate about continuing my work with teens to support their emotional health as they transition into their young adult years. I am also interested in supporting young adults, as this is a time full of change and anticipation. Life can sometimes feel unsteady during these years, the good news is, we can figure it out together. We can work through things like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and the common challenges that teens and young adults face in today’s world.

I believe that all humans deserve the opportunity to live their best lives. To do this, sometimes we all need a helping hand to process through our emotions. Together, we will be able to work together to ensure you are on the road to living your best life.

Clinical Approach:

I have been trained through the eyes of Alfred Adler, a healer who believed that each person is an individual who thrives on encouragement and positive regard. I also practice narrative therapy, in combination with existentialism. We are the creators of our own story. We determine where we want our path in life to lead. We create our goals and then plan out how we will arrive at our goals. I strongly believe that humans have the ability to create their own path in life. CBT or Cognitive Behavior Therapy is also a path we may explore.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I enjoy taking road trips with my family to new outdoor adventures. We have traveled through the Black Hills, Smokey Mountains, Colorado Rockies, and Yellowstone. In the winter, you will find me on the snow, cruising the slopes, my favorite is Lake Tahoe. In the summer, you can find me on any number of the rivers and creeks around Minnesota in a blowup kayak. I love listening to Latino music, my favorites are Los Angeles Azules, Marc Anthony, and Los Caifanes. Oh, and and I dabble in piano.
