More About Brenda Nikkila
Clinical Interests:
I have special training in early childhood and adolescents in college, through Association of Play Therapy and through the State of Minnesota. I enjoy working with children and teens to help them be able to identify and express their thoughts and feelings and understand their own behaviors. I encourage my children and teenage clients to believe in themselves and develop confidence in their own abilities to make wise choices and to deal with life challenges. My special interests are in attachment therapy, trauma, anxiety, depression, self esteem, and helping develop better relationships.
Clinical Approach:
The approaches I use include expressive therapies such as play, sand, art therapy activities, Bibliotherapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy depending on the person and situation. Everyone is unique and I believe it is important to choose an approach that is suitable for that unique individual. I enjoy making an impact on the world by helping others lead happy and successful lives
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time with family, my cats, children, and friends. I am involved in my church women’s group and different Bible Studies. I love to travel and would love to do more. I love to go for walks, bike rides, water aerobics and different activities.
