More About Brett Sharockman
Clinical Interests:
I provide counseling for adult men and couples. I help men with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, sex addiction and recovery, relationships, communication, anger, and managing life stressors.
I work with couples to assess the core issues in their relationship, help them strengthen their connection, and introduce skills and techniques to improve communication and conflict resolution.
If you would like to incorporate your Christian faith into counseling, please let me know. I am trained in sex addiction and recovery and working toward AASAT (American Association for Sex Addiction Therapy) certification. If acting out sexually impacts you or your relationship and you want change, please contact me.
Clinical Approach:
My approach is generally calm and gentle. Studies show that a good relationship between therapist and client is the most significant clinical factor for positive outcomes. Therefore, my main priority is to create a safe, trusting environment. I also take time to do a thorough assessment. A good assessment allows us to identify and work on the right issues, which maximizes the use of our time and your resources and also contributes to better outcomes. I incorporate a variety of therapy techniques, including CBT, ACT, IFS, DBT, and the Gottmann Method for couples.
It is a privilege to be a small part of your story, and I don’t take it lightly. Whatever challenges you are facing, I will meet you where you are and walk alongside: supporting, encouraging, and equipping you.
Hobbies:
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my wife/family being outdoors and active. We enjoy hiking, pickleball, and exploring new areas. Recently my wife and I have started dancing together more, which has been fantastic! We have four adult children and four adult pets.
