More About Catherine Brightman
Clinical Interests:
I have over 16 years experience working with children, adolescents, and parents with a variety of presenting concerns including parent-child conflict, school refusal, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior, substance use, and developmental disorders including autism. In addition, I specialize in working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use. I am a board approved supervisor as well which allows me to support the personal and professional growth of other providers and licensure candidates.
Clinical Approach:
I utilize evidence based strategies based on the specific presenting problem and age of the person. I have experience with behavior therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as yoga and meditation. I utilize a relational approach and incorporate psychoeducation into the process to help people understand the bi-directional relationship between brain, mind, and body. My goal is teach others how to heal themselves and help them get connected to a supportive community that will reinforce their well-being and growth.
Hobbies:
When not at work you can find me reading or listening to books and articles about the mind, emotions, parenting, or anything else that is related to the mental health field. I am an avid yogi and love learning anything about yogic philosophy. In my spare time I teach individual or group yoga classes as well. I try to be outside as much as I can so I can enjoy nature and be as physically active as possible. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my husband and son together as a family.
