More About Dustin Ernberger

Clinical Interests:

I am proud to be part of the clinical team at Psychiatric Associates! I have been helping adults, adolescents, and children achieve their goals since 1995. I have a master’s degree in community-based counseling from Ball State University. From 1997 on, I have been licensed in my home state of Iowa. Currently, my clinical interests include: anxiety disorders, stress management, mood and affect management difficulties, adjustment difficulties, chronic pain, parenting issues, and children’s behavioral issues.

Clinical Approach:

I view effective helping as a partnership that develops in the context of a safe, non-judgmental relationship. I work with clients to help them develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve the goals that they have identified as being important. My goal is to help all of the individuals and families I work with gain an awareness of the ways in which they contribute to their own healing process, so they can continue progressing even after the counseling relationship has come to an end.

My counseling style is reflective of my desire to help make counseling sessions “useable” outside of the office. To this end, I employ the use of the evidence-based cognitive therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In addition, I have training in specialties such EMDR, hypnotherapy, and AutPlay.

Hobbies:

When I am away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and two dogs, skateboarding, and strength training. I also have a passion for drawing and am trying my hand at designing and painting graphics on a couple of blank skateboard decks.
