More About Ellen Zosel
Clinical Interests:
I am interested in working with teens and emerging adults as the stages of development in those age demographics are of a particular interest to me. I have done a fair amount of personal reading and research in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and hope to pursue formal training one day. I am also interested in developing increased competence in work with eating disorders and/or disordered eating behavior. I would also like to pursue additional training in trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR or TFCBT, however I am still determining which modality will fit best with my approach to counseling.
Clinical Approach:
I consider myself to be an integrative psychodynamic therapist. I believe that it is beneficial to recognize that clients’ concerns often develop over time, and that acknowledging the ways in which unique experiences shape people can lead to a deeper understanding of the self. I resonate strongly with attachment theories and often will address the ways in which our connections with others in the world influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am also person-centered in my approach and will allow the client to direct the therapy and develop their own goals. Some goals require a more solution-focused or directive approach at which point I may draw from CBT or DBT and allow for the client to provide feedback on what works for them and what may not.
Hobbies:
I am an avid reader and movie-watcher in my free time. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two cats. I also enjoy many of the outdoor activities in the Duluth area such as hiking, trail running, and fishing. I am also a big fan of sports (especially American football) and love to watch games with family during the season.
