More About Emily Schultz
Clinical Interests:
I have primarily worked with youth and their families in my career thus far, and I am interested in expanding my work with adults, families, and couples. I have experience working with clients within the Foster Care/Child Welfare/Youth Justice systems. I have experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma (trained in TF-CBT), substance use disorders, stress related concerns (work, home life, etc), and family dynamics.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical approach comes from a person-centered and strengths-based perspective. I enjoy collaborating with patients and learning from them, as we can learn from one another. I believe in meeting people where they are at, and working together to meet their goals. The therapeutic approaches I use are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT and DBT-A – for adolescents), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychoeducation, and Art-Based/Expressive Therapy. My goal as a therapist is to be there for my patients and work with them to meet their goals.
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends whenever possible, as well as enjoying the company of animals. I enjoy warm weather and like to be outside when it’s warm and the Sun is out. I have a cat, who is named after a former Milwaukee Brewers player, and enjoying spending time with my cat. When I am not at work, I’m either watching and cheering on the Wisconsin Teams (Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers) or watching comedy. I live by the 3 C’s – Coffee, Cats, and Comedy.
