More About Heather Bowen

Clinical Interests:

A few areas of passion for me are veterans, active military individuals and their families; LGBTQ+ population; maternal mental health (single mothers, mothers of multiples, pregnancy loss, perinatal and beyond); individuals with cognitive disabilities; individuals with substance use concerns and individuals with neurological and developmental disorders (ADD/ADHD, Autism). I strongly believe that therapeutic services are beneficial for all and enjoy working with a multitude of different ages, backgrounds and diagnoses. I have experience working with both adults and children but currently work primarily with clients who are 18+ years old. I also have experience with chemical dependency individuals and leading chemical dependency treatment groups.

Clinical Approach:

I take a holistic approach and utilize a variety of interventions and tools which include solution-focused, trauma-focused, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and strength-based concepts but I am quick to stress that above all, I am person-centered and believe there is not one “cookie cutter” treatment approach that fits all clients. I strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment where growth and positive change can be created while meeting the client where they are in their life journey. I have been described by former clients as relatable, genuinely empathetic, understanding, realistic, optimistic and easy going while providing the “nudge” they needed for growth.

Hobbies:

Outside of being a military wife and spending quality time with my husband and our 7 young children; I enjoy reading, being outside, painting and writing.
