More About Holly Johnson

Clinical Interests:

As a new mental health practitioner, I have a strong interest in trauma-informed care, as I believe understanding and supporting clients who have experienced trauma is essential for effective healing. I am particularly drawn to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and enjoy helping clients manage their thoughts and behaviors. Additionally, I aim to incorporate mindfulness and stress reduction techniques into my practice to assist clients in coping with anxiety and stress.

I am committed to cultural competence, ensuring I understand and respect the diverse backgrounds of my clients. I have a particular focus on youth and adolescent mental health, as I find it important to address developmental issues during these critical years. I am also interested in working with clients facing substance use disorders, helping them navigate recovery and understand the connection between mental health and substance use.

Furthermore, I enjoy facilitating group therapy sessions to foster community support among clients. I am intrigued by psychodynamic approaches and exploring how unconscious processes influence behavior. My goal is to utilize integrative approaches that blend various therapeutic techniques to best meet the unique needs of each client while focusing on resilience building to empower them with effective coping strategies.

Hobbies:

In my leisure time, I engage in a variety of activities that reflect both my creative and athletic interests. I find crocheting to be a rewarding pursuit, as it allows me to explore patterns and textures while fostering mindfulness. Additionally, I am an avid sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying hockey and football. These sports not only provide excitement and camaraderie but also teach valuable lessons about teamwork and strategy.

Swimming is another passion of mine; it offers both physical fitness and a sense of tranquility. I also cherish the time I spend at my cabin, where I can connect with nature and recharge. Finally, I enjoy watching films, as they provide a window into different cultures and narratives, enriching my perspective on the world. Together, these hobbies contribute to a well-rounded and fulfilling life, balancing creativity, physical activity, and relaxation.
