More About Jessica Christensen
Clinical Interests:
Being a former service member I really have a passion for working with service members and their families. I think that this population of people go through major transitions in their lives every year and I am able to connect and help them work through these issues while also understanding the military aspect of their life. In addition to this population I am interested in working with adolescent clients who are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma and transitions.
Clinical Approach:
I work from a client centered approach where we will build the client’s goals around what they are interested in working on. I draw my approach from skills in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, trauma informed care and solution focused. I tend to work with clients on building their strengths and helping them see they are able to overcome things. Building rapport with my clients is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship to me so being able to meet the client where they are, helping them express where they want to be, and using humor to help us get there at times is really important to me.
Hobbies:
Some of my hobbies include reading, watching documentaries, playing board games, cooking and baking and just spending time with my family.
