More About Julia Collier-Scrivner

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has provided counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, family and couples in a variety of different settings for the last seventeen years. I graduated from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi with a degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I felt called to pursue a degree in counseling while working with my late husband in the ministry field.

My view of therapy is simple: to provide a safe space for you to explore and address the concerns or problems that you may have encountered along your journey of life. You are the author of your life and the writer of your story. I will work with you to help you understand yourself better. And to boost confidence in yourself as you navigate decisions and choices in your life. This is done through actively listening to your story, goals, and dreams. As well as helping you identify your strengths and supports.

My work in therapy incorporates active and reflective listening, empathy, understanding and unconditional regard for you, your story and experiences. I utilize an eclectic approach, based on the needs of the individual. This may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma. I am also trained and have experience providing couples counseling and family counseling to support healthier communication and conflict resolution skills. I am trained in Theraplay Level 1 and am experienced in providing parenting skills training and support for children and adolescents.

Currently I am working with children ages 8 through adolescents, young adults, college age through adulthood. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, OCD, anger management, stress management, life transitions and adjustments, coping skills, grief/loss, ADHD and impulse control, low self-esteem and confidence, parenting skills and couples/family communication skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, going for bike rides, hiking, or spending time on the water enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and connection with others.
