More About Kallyn Heiges

Clinical Interests:

I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Mount Mary University and my graduate degree in Counseling with a Clinical Mental Health concentration from Mount Mary University. I am passionate about helping others with their mental health journey. I come from a background of working in inpatient and residential care with clients ages 11 and up. I have experience in various areas such as: Anxiety, Adolescent Issues, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, Grief & Loss, Self-Esteem, Self-Harm, Social Anxiety, Substance Use, and Suicidal Thoughts.

Clinical Approach:

I work from an approach that you are the one who knows yourself best. I draw from person centered therapy and a trauma informed lens to help guide and support in each client during their session. I work with each client to understand the world from their point of view while providing a genuine and empathic atmosphere while also empowering them to navigate life’s challenges. During our sessions I will work with clients to facilitate their personal growth and development, help to eliminate feelings of distress, work on increasing self-esteem, and enhance the client’s experience understanding of themselves. I create a space for my clients that allows for healing and growth. I also utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and watching movies. I have also recently found a love for cooking in the last few years and love being able to try new recipes! My favorite dish to make is Chicken Florentine.
