More About Karen Mitchell-Schleicher
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy helping adults that are experiencing problems in their lives related to their substance use. I strive to serve each client with dignity and respect. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings including residential and outpatient treatment programs.
Clinical Approach:
When working with my client, I use a holistic approach recognizing that care must consider the unique needs of each person. I use a strength based approach to build on that which is working and do my best to walk with my clients as they make changes that can often feel difficult and overwhelming. I believe developing coping skills and resiliency is critical to success and use a mixture of cognitive behavior skills, mindful activities, problem solving skills, and support networks. I am trained in trauma informed care, person centered care, DBT skills, cognitive behavioral techniques and motivational interviewing methods. My ultimate goal is to help clients feel positive about themselves, create change, and find hope for their future.
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time with my family breaking bread together and creating memories. I love the outdoors which includes swimming, skiing, hiking, biking, and soaking up vitamin D on the back of a motorcycle. Additional ways my heart feels happy include spending time with furry friends, baking goodies, and listening to a variety of books and podcasts.
