More About Karena Hertling
Clinical Interests:
I work with a wide range of adults aged 18 to 70+. I specialize in working with moms and single parents in prenatal stage through empty nester. I also work with older adults in wellness, life transitions, and end of life. I am trained in crisis for domestic violence and have extensive experience working with this population, for both women and men.
Clinical Approach:
I use a holistic approach that provides support to the whole person, not just mental health needs. This approach simultaneously addresses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of the individual. I have an integrated approach to therapy, using techniques and interventions that best fit the client’s needs and goals. I also implement psychoeducation into my therapy when appropriate to help my clients understand their symptoms, diagnosis, and issues better.
Hobbies:
I have many hobbies and enjoy many unique and different activities. I love being outside in the summer mainly in my garden or lounging on my hammock. In the winter I enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling, and a good movie. I am a very creative person and enjoy doing many types of arts and crafts all year round, when I have the time. My significant other and I have one daughter. As a family we like to go to swap meets, car shows, zoos, parades, the beach, the cabin, and any other fun activities we can do together. I enjoy my quiet time sitting outside with nature or reading a good book. I also love gathering with friends and family and enjoy conversing or playing any type of outdoor or indoor games.
