More About Katie Kaminski
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults. I particularly enjoy working with individuals struggling with symptoms of trauma, PTSD, depression, emotion regulation, adjustment difficulties, self-esteem, interpersonal effectiveness and anxiety disorders including OCD and panic. Other treatment approaches used may include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), brainspotting and Mindfulness. I have also completed several trainings in art and play therapy.
Clinical Approach:
My approach is to meet you where you are at and work collaboratively to create a plan to move forward for you to meet your goals. My approach is collaborative and strengths based. Although knowledge and experience is important, I believe one of the key aspects of successful work in therapy comes from the strength of the client/therapist relationship. I value an open and honest therapeutic relationship and work hard to provide an environment that feels safe, free of judgment, and collaborative.
Hobbies:
I have been married for over 20 years, we have three kids, two dogs, a guinea pig and a gecko. Recently my daughter raised 4 ducks – which were a good distraction during quarantine. As a family we are constantly on the move, being as adventurous and active as possible. We love water sports in the summer and watching hockey in the winter.
