More About Kaylah Vogt
Clinical Interests:
I completed my clinical internship at the Adult Lodging Plus (inpatient treatment) at M Health Fairview from May 2023 to January 2024. During this time, I observed various hospital units, including the emergency department, medical detoxification, the suboxone clinic, and the outpatient assessment center. My primary focus was on working with men aged 18 and older from diverse cultural backgrounds and languages.
I am passionate about supporting clients aged 16 and older in exploring topics such as ambivalence, language deprivation syndrome, self-esteem, identity, self-growth, self-reflection, interpersonal relationships, boundary setting, coping skills, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, addiction, overstimulation, abuse, neglect, systemic oppression, discrimination, toxic work environments, daily stressors, adjustment to change, existential questions, burnout, ambiguous grief, and trauma.
As a Deaf therapist fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), I serve Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, children of Deaf adults (CODA), ASL interpreters, late-deafened teens and adults, and parents of Deaf/hard of hearing children, as well as their loved ones. I can also collaborate with certified ASL interpreters for non-signing clients. When you are ready, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that accessing a therapeutic space enriched by American Sign Language can bring profound relief and healing.
My approach is to meet clients where they are, creating a safe haven for them to explore their inner worlds. As a mental health professional, I honor the belief that clients are the true experts of their own lives. Together, we embark on a journey of collaboration, crafting measurable and attainable goals that illuminate their paths forward. My goal is to empower clients to thrive beyond our short therapy sessions and continue their success after therapy concludes. I see curiosity as a powerful catalyst for positive change, sparking transformation in unexpected ways.
My counseling methods draw from a tapestry of techniques, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and grounding practices, and psychoeducation. I recognize that clients may need support that extends beyond traditional evidence-based practices. To enhance interpersonal skills, I incorporate role-playing exercises that invite connection and understanding. Visual aids become tools for enlightenment in psychoeducation, while art serves as a powerful medium for exploring thoughts and emotions, allowing creativity to enrich the healing process.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities that inspire and relax me. I love creating art, diving into captivating books, and watching movies. Going for walks allows me to connect with nature, while spending time with my cat, Nemo, brings me joy. I also enjoy attending comedy and theater shows, traveling to new places, swimming, ice skating, gardening and experimenting with cooking different dishes.
