More About Kristen Ward

Clinical Interests:

I am dedicated and passionate about uncovering the depth of emotion and finding connections and patterns in my clients’ lives. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and have a growing interest in working with couples. With a background in teaching, I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescences and supporting their unique developmental needs. Some of my clinical interests include identity work, attachment work, and inner child work. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have a special interest for serving LGBTQIA+ clients. I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and affirming space for all clients.

Clinical Approach:

My clinical approach focuses on each person’s unique needs and experiences, putting the client at the center of our work together. I take a holistic and somatic approach. I take a person-centered approach providing empathy, unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and a focus on self-actualization. I also use emotionally focused therapy to help clients build stronger, more secure emotional connections. I draw on ideas from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to tackle different challenges. By combining these methods, I support clients in building self-awareness, resilience, and the skills needed for positive change.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I enjoy walking, being in or around water, exploring nature, or new places in Minnesota. I love to travel! I also enjoy baking, crafting, making cards, and party planning. I love vegging out to a good movie or docuseries. I value spending time with loved ones and enjoying life’s simple pleasures like fuzzy socks and cat snuggles.
