More About Laura Welp
Clinical Interests:
I enjoying helping people overcome obstacles in their lives that prevent them from finding peace, moving forward and feeling fulfilled. I help my clients find their voice and confidence. My areas of concentration include generalized and social anxiety, depression, anger management, co-occurring disorders, stress, addiction, relationship struggles, parenting, infertility, divorce, grief and loss, trauma, and life transition issues. My personal and professional background allows me to deeply understand the difficulties people experience at times in their lives. My personal and professional background also gives me the heart and skills needed to help you find a truly fulfilling and happy life.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical approach is collaborative but also directive. While I will work with you to uncover root causes of uncomfortable emotions or unproductive thoughts and behaviors, I will also suggest, lead and advise when appropriate. I use assignments between sessions to reinforce session work. Therapies I use include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, narrative, psychoanalytic, person-center, family systems, strengths-based and trauma-focused.
Hobbies:
I find my own peace and fulfillment through friends, family, pets and precious time alone. I love to sail, ski, travel, read and craft. I’ll never be bored and I’ll never feel like I know enough.
