More About Liberty McClead
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with people who feel like they’re “out of step” with the crowd for whatever reason. As a member of the queer community, I have a special heart for LGBTQ+ folks and the unique traumas that can affect this population (including religious trauma, family rejection, and myriad others). I have advanced training in trauma recovery and in transgender/gender expressive health, and very much enjoy working with these populations as well. I see clients age 6 and above.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that every human being has innate worth, and that part of therapy is helping the client rediscover and celebrate all parts of themselves. Everyone deserves to fall in love with themselves, quirks included. I also believe that everyone deserves a life worth living and that examining our values can help everyone move in that direction. Clinically, I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). What these terms mean is that I am deeply interested in how you think and act in day-to-day life and how those thoughts and actions influence your emotional health and core beliefs.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hunkering down with a good book or movie (especially when it’s cold out), and playing tabletop games and RPGs such as Pathfinder and Dungeons and Dragons. I enjoy watching hockey as well, and I am always up for a Fargo Force game or to represent my favorite teams (the Boston University Terriers and the Boston Bruins). I also have two dogs with whom I’m obsessed.
