More About Linn Polyak
Clinical Interests:
I have experience working with children 4+, as well as teens, college aged people, and adults of all ages. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults with experiences of trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, relational concerns, and behavioral concerns. I strive to continue my education, professional training, and personal experience to provide ethical and competent care to folks of a variety of backgrounds that includes clients who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and with clients of color.
Clinical Approach:
With children, I take an approach of communicating with kids with what they know best – Play! I use play therapy skills with kids as my primary modality. In my work with adults, I carry over playful approaches when appropriate, and tend to use person-centered and narrative approaches with some skills and techniques taken from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed Practice. Therapy is uncomfortable and hard work to do at any age, and I aim to partner with clients and parents to support each individual to work towards meeting their goals.
Hobbies:
Outside of work I can often be found in a local coffee shop, reading, caring for my variety of house plants, spending an afternoon on a hiking trail or paddling out the Mississippi River or one of her tributaries. I love spending time with my friends and family in the outdoors in the warmer months, or spending the colder months inside trying my hand at baking or coloring.
