More About Marissa Smook
Clinical Interests:
Marissa has experience working with all age groups in clinic, school-based, and in-home settings. Her areas of clinical interest are trauma, depression, anxiety, severe & persistent mental illness, suicidal ideation and self-harm, relationships & attachment, self & identity, and integrating healthy & effective coping & regulation strategies.
Clinical Approach:
Marissa’s clinical approach is person-centered, relationship-oriented, and trauma-informed. She believes in the importance of meeting her clients and their support systems where they are at and sees the power in building a safe, trusting, and healthy relationship as a vehicle to healing. Marissa integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) interventions, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques into her therapeutic work.
Hobbies:
Marissa enjoys spending time with her friends & family, and snuggling her pup, Mildred. She is an avid reader, player of board & card games, and puzzle-connoisseur. She is always down to binge-watch a good Netflix series or re-watch Harry Potter for the millionth time. You can find her working her way through Half-Baked Harvest cookbooks and trying out new restaurants. She loves to spend time in nature and is a big fan of exploring new places & traveling.
