More About Megan Kress
Clinical Interests:
I work with clients ranging from childhood – young adulthood who experience depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, and ADHD. I also assist with self-esteem, self-harm, anger, and behavioral concerns.
Clinical Approach:
My main clinical approach is Person-Centered theory. This theory is based on 3 main principles: Congruence (this means I am honest, open, and transparent with you as a client), unconditional positive regard, and empathetic understanding. The main goal of this theory is to help you understand and accept yourself and figure out how to progress moving forward. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems, which can be best described as looking internally to discover parts of your “Self” that make up your whole. This theory focuses on creating a safe space to heal different aspects of yourself (the vulnerable parts) by practicing self-compassion.
Hobbies:
Outside of work, I’m usually reading, watching Gilmore Girls, hanging with my kitties, or spending time with family/friends.
