More About Nathaniel Brutejcek
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with a broad spectrum of clients of different backgrounds and diagnoses. The majority of my career has been spent working with children (ages 3-15), and while I still enjoy working with this age range, I have come to appreciate supporting adults as well. I enjoy utilizing my natural up-beat energy to inspire individuals. Through my time working with adolescents and adults, I’ve learned how to support LGBTQ+ individuals in the best way possible and have come to enjoy it immensely. Additionally, I enjoy working with others who can use humor as a coping skill and can appreciate the bright side of life.
Clinical Approach:
My ultimate goal in providing therapy is that the client finds our sessions useful. My foundational approach is providing a non-judgmental, safe space for others to come and be able to explore their experiences when they feel ready. From a clinical aspect, my approach is primarily cognitive-behavioral. There are times, however, when introducing an integrative approach to sessions can be helpful to ensure the client is receiving the most effective therapeutic intervention possible based on their needs. In working collaboratively with the client, I do my best to ensure the therapeutic modality fits well.
Hobbies:
When it comes to my personal interests, I have been told (often by kids or teens) that I’m “an old man.” I enjoy reading, taking my dogs for a walk, and simply being outside. I try to frequent as many concerts and theatre productions as possible each year. While I enjoy travelling, it has not occurred as often as I would like in the past couple years – instead I’ve turned my attention toward organized sports, which include kickball, dodgeball, and corn hole. I have yet to master any of them.
