More About Paul Giddings
Clinical Interests:
I work with adults with post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, mood disorders, personality disorders, and psychiatric disorders. I am also interested in working with fellow OIF and OEF veterans on mental health barriers specific to combat experiences, and their reintegrating into civilian life.
Clinical Approach:
I take a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to care that also integrates solution focused or narrative interventions depending on the goals of the client. But most important, I believe it is imperative to have well honed listening skills and the ability to know what to ask. No other approach is effective without making sure that I have a full understanding of my client’s situation both as an individual and within their social context. To that end, I am also informed by my undergrad focus on Sociology, which gives me a unique ability to put my clients into context, integrate a person-in-environment approach, and understand the systemic, cultural, and socioeconomic roots of many of their barriers.
Hobbies:
I enjoy music of all kinds, collecting records, trivia, hiking, and nature. I also enjoy watching soccer, and while I support and cheer for Minnesota United, my passionate support lies with Tottenham Hotspur, the pride of North London. Come on you Spurs!
