More About Shawn Gravelle
Clinical Interests:
My interests include working with clients who are looking for change and identifying how their past contributes to their present and future. I work from the premise that we all struggle with stress and when chronic stress impacts our lives it can lead to feelings of overwhelm and exhaustion. I have worked with clients who struggle with trauma and the forms that it can take with impact on their daily life. I work in collaboration with clients exploring their concerns and developing awareness to be able to better understand how their mind and body are interconnected using a trauma informed approached. I believe when people have hope, create awareness and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, they can experience change.
Clinical Approach:
I utilize a client-centered trauma informed approach by incorporating Polyvagal informed EMDR as my primary form of intervention. I also have training using Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectic Behavioral techniques, Solution-Focused, and Psycho-education to help with providing a holistic approach to meeting a client’s needs. I have worked with adults, young adults, and teens, treating & depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues/life changes/transitions, relationship/peer issues and Trauma/PTSD.
Hobbies:
I enjoy playing sports, working out, and spending time with my wife and four kids.
