Who is DBT for Kids for?

  • Children ages 8-18
  • Aggressive verbal or physical behavior
  • Difficulties with relationships
  • High anxiety
  • High intensity of emotions
  • Are being bullied
  • Self-injurious behaviors
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Other behaviors which have not been successfully treated by standard therapy

  • Ability to tolerate stressful situations
  • Self-awareness and awareness of surroundings

Our adolescent/multi-family program serves ages 12-18 at ten of our Minnesota clinics and our children’s program serves ages 8-11 at our Maple Grove clinic.

Program Requirements

Parent/guardian and child will begin with several individual therapy appointments to commit to DBT treatment. At least one of the child’s parents/guardians is required to attend the weekly skills training group alongside their child. Parents are also required to attend weekly individual therapy with their own DBT therapist. Both the child and parent/guardian(s) attend an eighteen-week skills training program.
